Meet The Captain

Captain James "Jim" Pollard is a USCG Licensed Master Captain in the Pinellas, St. Petersburg area of Tampa Bay in Florida. A Pinellas County native, Captain Jim has been fishing the waters of Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico since 1994. Big Daddy SportFishing specializes in inshore and nearshore fishing adventures. We teach anglers to value adventure when chasing Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon, Cobia, Kingfish and Sharks, among many other local species.


Jim and his family are avid outdoorsmen and women, hunting and fishing their way from Montana to Costa Rica. On days when Captain Jim isn't guiding clients on epic fishing experiences, he can be still be found on the water with his family and dogs.


You would be hard pressed to find a captain more dedicated to using top-of-the-line tackle, with a boat specifically designed with his clients’ experiences in mind.

    Inshore Rods:

    • Temple Fork Outfitters Rods - 7’6” 8-17 pound rod paired with Florida Fishing Products reels spooled with 15lb braided line

    Tarpon Rods:

    • Temple Fork Outfitters Rods - 8’ 50 pound rod paired with Daiwa BG 6500 reels spooled with 50lb braided line
